Artist’s Statement
The Cinderella myth embodies the desire and complications of marriage. Individuals are stretched between the tensions of sexual, social and cultural differences as they decide the ‘shoe fits’. The glistening slipper symbolizes love, angst in its pursuit, the hopes of those in waiting and tensions associated with the act itself.
Multiple inter-weavings of cotton thread into un-spun silk, wool and synthetic lace are stitched around picture wire which is stretched between the corners of a steel frame.
